Wolf's Poetry

Wounded Heart

Windows

Glimpses of your troubled soul

Silent pain and unspilled tears

etched deep within the hazel.

You wear a mask, show a smile

hang curtains on the glass

But they fall and reveal

the sorrow inside.

You trusted, loved,

but it was hurled back in your face

You gave your willing heart

only to have it trampled and torn.

Emotional instinct takes hold

A cold hard shield

wraps around your wounded heart

A defensive barrier, no more hurt.

But icy steel does not allow

for healing.

Unyielding bars imprison

not deliver.

No light strains through

a solid stony wall.

Only a higher Love

Can heal the hurt

Set you free

Shine the light.
