Raging waves race head to head
To shatter the sands,
Fury dissolving in foam.
One reaches me with gentle passion
Almost touches, pausing there
shyly
Studies me a moment,
pensive
Seems to whisper,
Bestow a secret,
Grant a wish;
Silently I plead for consummation
Swirl in salty coolness around me
Envelop me completely in yourself. . .
But it lingers here no more
Leaves traces of apology at my feet
Glides noiselessly away
To fulfill another's dream
Perhaps its own.
