Dune Messiah (Author: Frank Herbert)

In the sequiel to the best selling SF of Herbert's creative genius, I must say I found a seldom glimpsed desire inside myself to cease reading a novel. This was a tough book. In the end, I'm not sure I liked where it went. I'm told that I have to get through this one to be able to enjoy the next, but I'm not sure I'm ready for that loss of sanity just yet. I'll go read another book or 12 first, then maybe come back and read the rest after a few weeks. (Yes, I got through this one in about 5 days.) I was usually filled with a sense of sick dread when I picked this up to read it. I didn't know if this chapter (if you can call them that...) was going to be the one to cause a surcease of desire to finish what I have started. Needless to say, that although it gets high marks for overall apeal (increadible dialogue!!!) I have to trim back a bit on the addiction factor.
Addiction Rating: 2.0, Overall Rating: 3.5.
